How It All Began…

It all began with a question…

Is it time to grow and expand our efforts to support the arts in the Rio Grande Valley?

After decades of volunteerism, hundreds of community initiatives, and fundraising efforts that generated hundreds of thousands of dollars in support of local causes, the women who would become the charter members of FACES found themselves at an important crossroads.

They had a choice: continue their work within the structure of an established non-profit with a focused mission, or forge a new path by creating an independent organization dedicated to supporting the arts and cultural heritage of the Rio Grande Valley.

The decision was clear. The time had come to build something new — an organization shaped by experience, strengthened by collaboration, and guided by a deep commitment to the community we call home.

We had the right people to make that vision a reality; artists, retired educators, business owners, writers, grandmothers, mothers, sisters, and community advocates; women whose roots already extended deep into the cultural landscape of the Rio Grande Valley.

In December 2025, after months of planning and preparation, these women officially incorporated the Fine Arts & Cultural Education Society. This organization was created without limits on what could be imagined, achieved, and shared with the community.

More than just the beginning of an organization, this is the continuation of a lifelong commitment to the community. We look forward to inviting artists, educators, families, supporters, and neighbors to join us as we create something meaningful together.
